Another poor victim at "accident central". According to unnamed police. he thought he could make it through the yellow light before it turned red. He was wrong and got "T boned". 

This is the female Hercules Beetle grub. This one is also in the 3rd instar. The next stage for these grubs is to pupate in to the adult beetles. Could be another 3 to 6 months to see adults.

Dynastes Hercules Hercules Grubs.

Well after bit of a snafu from the US Postal Service...I received my package from Texas. Upon opening the package...I saw 3 containers inside. Sure enough...I opened the first one and there was a female Dynastes Hercules Hercules beetle grub. A huge one. The next container contained an even bigger male grub...same sub-species. Massive sized grubs. Unbelievable! I will post a couple of pics of them later. Included was a bonus grub from Texas...possibly an Ox beetle grub.

The 2 monster grubs are the larval form of the worlds largest and heaviest beetle...the giant Hercules beetle. These 2 larvae are captive bred and originally from the Guadeloupe, Mexico region. This region is known for producing the largest beetles. Only the males have horns. A wild caught male from that region measured 180mm...nealry 8 inches.

You might wonder why I got these 2 giant grubs? Well...I am going to try my hand at breeding them...the adult males sell for $150 each and up! Hmmm Tony's Beetle Ranch...has sort of a ring to it. I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Anyone want to venture what this strange creature is? It is close to 20 feet long and is located in the LA Natural History Museum. Ready to give up yet? An extremely rare preserved Megamouth Shark! Weird! 

Check out these irridescent blue butterflies from South America. They look even more vibrant in person.  

Here is something unusual from the desert of Southern California. These are called Blister Beetles. They have a toxic compound in their bodies that they release if threatened. The substance causes severe itching, redness and blisters. Ouch! 

Another great shot of my female Theraphosa Blondi...."Goliath Bird Eating Tarantula". Make sure you read the sign above it. You can just make it out. It is sitting atop it's "cave".  

Can you find the queen honeybee in this hive? Hint...she has a small white dot on her back. 

World Record Blue Catfish....124 pounds! 

This is SHELOB...my goliath bird eating tarantula from South America. That is a mouse she is chowing down on. That has got to hurt!

This is a male ALMIQUI. Never heard of it? Recently rediscovered in Cuba...thought extinct. A very strange animal 

Sasquatch Update

According to an update from A Current Affair last night...their bogfoot expedition had discovered more fresh footprints. They measured them and found them to be from 18 to 22 inches in length. You could clearly make out the impressions and where the toes are. Definately too wide and large for homo sapiens.
They also found some rather large branches snapped off in the vicinity. One broken small tree appeared to have a diameter of about 6 inches. They were scouting about looking for hair samples and scat "feces".

They also reported that they heard rumors of a National Geographic team in the area trying to beat them at any actual discovery of bigfoot. I'll keep you posted on their progress. If they get any pics...you will find them here.

Truth Stranger than Fiction

Here is a real classic example of truth being stranger than fiction. This little tidbit comes from our local politicians here in California. You see...California is a very liberal state...and of course, so are most of the politcians we have at state level. This is particularly true of our Assembly.

By now most people have heard of various states giving illegal (yes illegal) aliens drivers licenses. Basically rewarding them for commiting a federal offense. If drivers licenses were limited just to driving...I suppose it would not be such a big pill to swallow. But we all know that state drivers licenses are really de facto primary identification cards. They are used to buy property, get jobs, apply for benefits and open bank accounts...among other uses. Doesn't really seem fair to legal residents and US citizens...does it?

Well...now because it looks like the Real ID Act will be passed by Congress and signed by Bush...state drivers licenses could no longer be used as an ID for any Federal business, or be used to board airplanes. That is how it should be in my opinion. It seems that one of our more activist assemblyman...Mr. Cedillo...has quitely snuck a new bill in hoping no one would notice. As a matter of fact...out Governor did not know about it until just a few days ago. Very sneaky indeed.

So what would this new proposed law do you might be wondering? Well...if you are a legal resident or US citizen...you are not going to like it. Basically...it would exempt all illegal aliens who are driving in California without a license...from getting their cars towed and impounded. That's right...if they are caught by the police driving without a license...their cars cannot be towed or impounded. But...the cars of legal residents and US citizens can continue to be towed and impounded at owners expense. Currently...the police are allowed to impound the car of anyone driving without a license. If this wacky bill gets passed...only you an I will get their cars impounded...at our cost...while the illegal aliens get away scott free. What the Hell! Whose country is this anyway? What a load of crap! Since when do people who are in this country illegally get better and preferential treatment over legal residents...let alone US citizens? This really bothers me...being a veteran who gave 6 years to this country defending it. I have to pay through the nose to get my car out of the impound lot should I ever get caught without a license...yet some illegal alien can come in here...drive without a license and get caught...AND THEY GET TO KEEP THEIR CAR!!!!!! Bullshit! They are not even supposed to be here in the first place. I wish I could pick and choose which laws I did not want to obey.

Sasquatch

Last week a news program in Los Angeles...called "A current Affair"...aired some film footage shot of a purported bigfoot in Manitoba, Canada. The film was taken on April 16th of this year. The person who took it was a tribal member and was running the ferry at the time he saw it. It was slowly walking across a water tributary only accessible by boat. He was a long way from it...and the quality is not good...but you can definately tell it a a large, black, hairy creature that stood and walked lake a human. After he told others in his village about it...about 6 people took a boat over to where it was and found branches broken off at over 7 feet.
They also found hair samples and large foot impressions in the soil.

The news program showed it to several experts in photography and film and they believed that the film was genuine. Because of this...a Current Affair sent an expedition up to try and find it. They will be giving regular updates on their program. I wish them success. I don't know about you...but I believe they exist.
